I loved having this old trusty blog, but it was looking a little cluttered, the images weren't big enough, and I wanted something much prettier to really show off my amazing clients. I'm looking for a wedding client and a wedding planner to serve on a panel discussion for photographers (DFW PUG) on Thursday evening June 10th at 7-8:30 ish pm to discuss: How they chose a photographer, why they chose that particular photographer, what they did and didn't like about the entire process from first glance of website through the final "you're the one for us" decision. The panel will be moderated by me, Kristin and be very informal. Just a chance for photographers to gain some insight on how to better serve our clients. You don't have to be a client of MINE, but you do have to be someone who has hired a wedding photographer in the last 13 or so months AND have interviewed at least 3 different photographers during that process (maybe more!) Kolton's Haslet Portrait Session

I got the great pleasure of spending some time with Fort Worth event planner extraordinaire, Lesleigh Smith of (Lux Creative Events) and her son Kolton a few weeks back. For once, it wasn't a business meeting, but rather a play date with our boys who are only 1 year apart. I brought some divine chocolate almost croissants from a new coffee/breakfast/yogurt place nearby called Blue Cherry (if you live in the Keller area, definitely stop in nearby the new Timberland High School and close to my place!) Lesleigh supplied the oranges and grape juice and the kids and moms were both in heaven!

I had my camera and couldn't help shoot a little mini-session of Kolton. He is such a darling little cowboy and I was in visual awe of the space behind their Haslet home filled with: baby goats (big hit with my animal lover, Micah), giant tires, big grain silos, and a charming hay bale. Melts my Mama heart to see boys being boys!

Amber + Brian's wedding at the Old Red Courthouse downtown was just magically. I loved that they decided to meet there first for pictures and we were able to take advantage of some of the unique architecture of the building and all it's fabulous light before heading to the church.

It was super tough for me to edit this wedding because we just had some amazing images to choose from, but here are few of my favorites.

I'm thrilled to be back with another installment of the OTHER SIDE OF P workshops!

Kristin Greenlee is a long-time Professional Photographer who believes every family deserves to have photographs that capture the essence of the everyday beauty of their loved ones, their spaces, and the uniqueness of their character. As an experienced and certified Art Educator, she’ll make sure everyone doesn’t leave until you “get it!” If you’re tired of always missing that special “moment” because you just don’t know how to work your digital camera, these Workshops are for you! We’ll have a non-threatening, fun environment to learn the basics of how to use your camera (beyond the Programed modes!), how to take better pictures of those

Melissa + Clint :: Married! { Plano Wedding Photographer Album }

Well, in the rush of one of my busiest Fall seasons, I regrettably never got the chance to blog Melissa + Clint's wedding photos. So, I thought I'd do something new and post their complete wedding album design. Yep, it's a long post, but you'll enjoy! It's a beautiful 10x15 horizontal design that I'm just loving.

Our course they had an amazing team to help them pull it together so here's the lowdown:

I worked with Bella Flora on Candice + Chris King's wedding and everyone in this business knows Lucy and her team are at the top of their game!

New Orleans Bridal Shoot:: Model Dawn

Well, I never had a chance during the busy fall season to blog about my amazing trip to NOLA for the Pictage Partner Conference. I was invited to speak this year (I skipped the last one because Micah was too little for me to leave!) I took a different approach to this year's conference and spent more time SHOOTING than doing anything else really.

The fabulous Sara France lead a shooting workshop with a pretty in pink model named Dawn. We just strolled down the French Quarter and shot inside our hotel lobby some too. I don't always blog workshop-type shoots because well, they're a beast of their own. I'm not a huge fan of jockeying for room with 30 other photographers and have little to no control over lighting or posing. I usually hang toward the back and just shoot what I can, when I can and try to enjoy the experience.

Most of my favorites from this shoot were during times when everyone else was transitioning or not shooting or I was at a different angle. For that choice, I wasn't able to get a lot of eye contact, but Dawn did notice my approach and like any great model, even during the "down" times, she was always still modeling! I wish we could have stayed longer, but we had to get to the airport and missed the last hour or so of the shoot. Once the group crossed the street we were about to walk back in when I decided to try and grab the last shot. I was happy I got the through the window-Lady shot that I wanted.

**Please note, there is one image that contains graphic language. Sorry if that offends you. It's not the typical thing I shoot or show, but I do feel that it typifies in one image what NOLA represents, both beauty and edge. If you've been there you understand that the place is nothing but one huge juxtaposition of such things.***

So, here's the follow up wedding story. Such. A. Special. Day. One of those weddings I will never forget. A magical fall wedding at Marie Gabrielle with people with a true spirit of love. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it. This is a big post. No apologies.

Becky Ennis:: Bridals (Dallas Urban Bridal)

Wow. Becky has one of those spirits...those ways about someone you can't quite describe, but you try with words like: true beauty, grace, fire, intelligence, and lovely. This bridal shoot was especially important to me because about 5 months before Becky's wedding, I called to check in with her because I hadn't heard from her in a while. She confessed to me that she was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and would be undergoing chemo and could I wait until after the wedding to shoot her bridals (her last treatment was scheduled for the Tuesday before the wedding). I said "yes, of course" and muttered some other condolences. When I hung up I simply weeped. I mean full on weeped. I hate cancer. I knew her Mom had passed away 12 years ago from the same, mean disease. It made me miss my own Dad and Grandpa and everyone I know that has been touched by cancer. I did seem to utter that if she changed her mind, we could shoot whenever she wanted.
A few months later Becky contacted me and said she did want to give it a try. So, between chemo treatments, we schedule her bridal shoot at a super cool urban (ghetto, Dallas skyline, Chihuahua pack of dogs running down street) location that I had been eying. To my delight, Becky obliged and just trusted me. I knew I had to rock these for her. I was happy that even though she is a self-confessed "bridge person" she went to a fun more dramatic place for this shoot. It was of course our record setting rainy October. She overcame the rain. She overcame her cancer (at least in some significant small way) and she would have her dream wedding, just like she planned, with her sweet caring groom, Erik. (which by the way, I can't wait to share!) So thanks Becky, for allowing me into your life. For teaching me about love, commitment, and courage under challenge. Thanks for letting me attend a wedding where everyone in some small way, remembered that this was far more than a party for party sake, but a chance to show deep love and compassion to those who mean the most.

Huge thanks and shout out to Andy Emery (Rightangle Photo) for assisting me for the day. That last image was shot just before we left and was his idea! I couldn't have done it without you! (who else would stand on a rooftop ledge 3 stories up with windy gusts to hold a flash for me?)

Brooke Stateham + Matt Thomson [Fort Worth Wedding Photographer]

Brooke + Matt had a lovely wedding despite the rain. In fact, if you are considering a reception at the Reata downtown, I'd reconsider booking me (K*I*D*D*I*N*G) because I've photographed two within a month of one another and it rained both times! Sorry ladies!!

Things I loved about this wedding in no particular order!:

All the J Crew goodness! The wale ties, the bridal gown, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses (all with pockets) all game from J Crew!
During the Ceremony Sgt. forgot to tell everyone to sit down and they just kept standing after the bride came down the aisle for the ENTIRE first half of the ceremony!
That Matt must've cried at least 5 times during emotionally powerful events
That the Best Man teared up during his toast, too. 2 peas, he and Matt!
The FOB's hat
The awesome necklaces the girls changed into for the reception
The simplicity of the day
The rain (ok, it was love hate, but I love the romantics in the downtown streets of fort worth--at this point it was POURING)
The amazing "real" first dance with the street musicians on the way to the reception.

Unveiled {Dallas Ft. Worth Bridal Show}

I'm not much for doing bridal shows, I'll admit. But, when the opportunity presented itself to participate in this event; I was unequivocally IN! It will be more of an "experience" and less of a big crowded show. There will be amazing features like: 2 bridal fashion runways, a wedding trendspot area (where you'll find my booth), a cocktail, ceremony, and reception experience (see the possibilities), Club Groom (where he can just hang out and look at the "guy stuff" among many other cool features.

Fabulous Ring Bearer Pillow {Dallas Wedding Trends}

I came across this beautiful and simple pillow and thought it would be dreamy for a tiny tot to carry down the aisle for a Fall or Winter wedding. Definitely check out the Etsy shop of missmosh to see other fab pillow ideas. I'm sure she could customize them to work for ring bearer's pillows by adding a simple ribbon to tie them on with.

Idea: Box for Guestbook table

I was shopping for some items for my upcoming bridal show on www.Stampington.com, Unveiled when I came across this cool old fashioned "seed box" I instantly thought it would make a cool box for gift/guestbook/foyer table. You could have one section for guests to drop cards, one for well wishes written by guests (in addition to or lieu of a guest book) and the other could house get-a-way bubbles. Or better still, just fill the glass sections with rose petals for your guest to throw at your exit. Lots of options for a pretty garden or vintage inspired theme

The Wedding of Lindsay Thiessen + Adam Bruntz

Things I loved about this wedding:

1. Lindsay's dress had intricate beading, but I LLLLOOOVEED the pleats!
2. The fact that a big beautiful church such as St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton wasn't especially restrictive with photography allowing us to get gorgeous face and wide shots at the ceremony.
3. The funny speech about it being the last time Adam would have the "upper-hand" on Lindsay!
4. The deep purple callas, can't go wrong with a classic flower in an eye popping color
5. That Adam could dance--I had no idea! I love surprises.
6. The super delish chocolate fountain with TONS of goodies instead of a groom's cake.The best I've had--no lie.
7. The cute, color coordinating card/picture given to them by a kiddo I used in the ring shot.
8. The way the guys fought over the garter like girls usually do for the flowers!
9. The sweet, vertically challenged grannies taking pictures.
10. The way the ring bearer grabbed a handful of Lindsay's bottom while they danced!
11. That they left on a horse drawn carriage, since that's where Adam proposed.

Katy Bess + Jeff Gott {Southlake Wedding Photographer}

It was great to be back at St. Martin in-the-Fields to photograph Katy + Jeff's wedding. I actually shot Katy's matron of honor, Megain Timmons', wedding there just 3 short years ago, so it was fun to be back!

Fun candid of Paula Jefferson, who also happens to be my husband's boss and the owner of Paula Jefferson and Associates, a public accounting firm. Definitely get in touch with them, they've got great service and mad skills! (I'm totally biased, sorry!) Guess I wasn't being as sneaky as I thought! How is it that no one else even noticed me about 30 feet away?

A little romance before the party gets going.During Final Planning meetings with my couples I always ask if there will be any fun surprises I should watch out for. Ummm, running into your reception with a football to "tunnel music" and spiking the ball would be one! (Jeff is a football coach and Katy is a big fan of the game.) I was wishing I didn't have my long lens on and could have gotten the whole scene of reactions!Katy, naturally giving the aforementioned classic "Katy" laugh. I love a girl who smiles as big as Texas!Nothing like a Texas Tech Raid Raider marrying a Texas A&M Aggie! So many hand signs being thrown up all night, you'd think it was a gansta rap video! (The Texas Version!)
Does anything beat a "First Dance?"

During the father/daughter dance, the music scratched and off came the coat for a hilarious dance to "I Feel Like a Woman." Apparently, FOB, Bob Bess is quite the closet Shania fan! When I look at these images, I think of how fun it will be for Katy to look at them when her Dad is old and gray. She will get to remember how he was willing to be silly and have fun with her on her wedding day. What a great memory and story that will be told for generations!!
There's nothing more fun than when a party is ON! Definitely hire Scott Shirley of Party Machine, he did a great job and had a great lighting (makes my job so much easier!)I was cracking up when I saw Katy's brother, Chris, diving for the garter. Looks like he'll be up next and I'd love to be there to photograph his wedding, ahem *cough* when the time comes. :)

Andy grabbed this great image showcasing the amazing Fort Worth skyline views atop the 40th floor of the Petroleum Club right before we left. OkAAY technically, we sat in an empty ballroom after a great party, on the 40th floor enjoying a piece of cake---before we left!

Deanne Bolin + Chris Gardner Wedding

Deanne and Chris had lovely little southern wedding at Northwood Church here in Keller followed by a laid-back reception at the Stockman's Club in the Historic Stockyards Station in Fort Worth. I loved getting to design their invitation suite and see that design vision carried through the rest of their wedding (see previous post!)

Kim Kenney and her team from Timeless Elegance Weddings did a great job as the wedding consultants and I know it really put Deanne at ease to know she could depend on Kim. Her sister company Timeless Fiori did a great job with florals.

Chris and Deanne took time to do a "First Look" session so they could spend some time with one another before the ceremony started. I could see this instant sense of relief and calm they both had after they saw one another.

I loved these watermelon pink roses Katie Hart attached to branches paired with hanging tea lights. A pretty and rustic centerpiece perfect for this venue!

I was thrilled to create the invitation suite for Chris and Deanne's Wedding (post coming soon!) I love when a design theme can be carried out through a wedding and their monogram showed and pattern showed up in the guest book design, wedding childhood slideshow, on the bottom of Hershey kisses at the sweets bar, the programs, etc. It wasn't too much, just enough that everything went together really well! It was printed on a beautiful linen stock that had a light texture. Let me know if you'd like a custom design quote!

Steven- Keller High School Senior 09

Shooting with Steven was soooo easy. I mean, I have some friends that photograph Seniors and they can be at a loss with boys, but all I had to do was come up with a fantastic couple of locations and Steven was all in. Enjoy.

Brooke + Matt's Engagements

I had such a blast with Brooke and Matt at the Stockyards. Brooke had some specific images that she wanted to accomplish including getting their boots shined, hanging out and dancing at a favorite bar (the White Elephant Saloon). I loved this hat she brought a long that was a family heirloom, her Great Grandfather's!

Brooke also wanted to use some hay bales, I had my own ideas about how we would use them and Matt didn't complain! I was especially pleased to find some new vignettes and crannies I never knew existed. It was great to keep things fresh in a familiar shooting location. Since I haven't posted much lately, I think I went a little overboard, but what-are-ya-going to do? Brooke + Matt are just too fabulous!
TIPS FROM THIS SHOOT: Pick a location where you can be yourselves! Sometimes, what's "ugly" is the most beautiful. You'll also notice, I'll choose great light over great background, because it's really about YOU, not what your standing in front of!

Bush Family: A Year in the Life of, Session 2

This family is so special to me. I photographed Sharon and Todd's wedding a few years back. It's so amazing to see a family grow right before my eyes. When Sharon got pregnant, they decided to purchase my Year in the Life of Collection. I photographed Sharon's Maternity, the family when Jaxton was 1 week old, and now that he is 7 months, then I'll go back when he turns one and finish off with a big beautiful album showcasing it all. Can you believe this hair? So adorable!!

We used Todd's '47 Chevy in their engagement pictures you may have seen in the studio and I was so happy to follow up those images with some with their two beautiful children. It's so cute how Sharon has her own little mini-me and now, so does Todd!

There's nothing like a Daddy tossing a baby in the air. It's just a speical "thing" Oh, and that big beautiful blue sky, could I have asked for more?

I think these images of the family relaxing in their yard are so sweet. It typifies my ideas about Lifestyle Portraiture and the beauty of your own spaces. Kids and adults are so comfortable when they are home.

Serendiptiy picked up Sharon's parasol (so that's how she keeps such porceling skin!) and didn't even notice me when I took this sweet shot of her.
TIPS FROM THIS SHOOT: I brought a diaper cover for the baby, I just hate the look of commerical diapers, but if you have a color scheme in mind, you may want to have one on hand. I loved that we just came across the parasol as a prop (totally unplanned) but what special object might you bring to your shoot?

Becky + Eric:: Ding Ding Goes the Trolley E-session!

I had a blast with Beck and Eric on their e-session. They wanted something unique so they decided to charter a trolley from the McKinney Ave Trolley service named Rosie. It was so nice not to have to shoot around other people and we definitely shot around every inch of that Trolley!

We could only get off and the end and beginning of the line because the rest of the trolley's were still running. Also, the Trolley barn was just as awesome! I can't wait to shoot their November wedding at Marie Gabrielle!

Bluebonnet Mini-Sessions

As long as I've been a photographer, I've never actually sought out to do bluebonnet pictures. I actually happened upon such a quaint beautiful little patch during Chris and Deanne's Engagement session. There is such great light and such pretty colors, I couldn't resist!

After a few inquiries, I thought I'd put together a night of mini-sessions. So here's the skinny (rarely will I offer shoots for such a value, so take advantage!)

When: Thursday, April 16th, 5-7 PM--each session is 15 minutes, so you must be on time!
Where: Westlake/Southlake (specific location will be given once you book) just 5-7 minutes from Southlake Town Center
Cost: $45 (crazy great deal!)

This very special PUG gathering features Denis Reggie up close and personal as he shares favorite images and stories from behind the scenes. He will detail his techniques, offer industry insights, and answer questions in a casual, living room style format. This is a Canon Explorer of Light event and is open to all working and aspiring wedding photographers.

ABOUT DENIS: Hailed by Town & Country as “the great wedding photographer of our day” and by Oprah Winfrey as “the best in the business,” Denis Reggie and his impact on wedding photography have become legend. "The Lady From the Painting"

I absolutely love photographing maternity sessions. There is something about a pregnant lady that is so beautiful. Her body is creating a miracle, cradling an angel. I talked with these parents about her being "the lady from the painting" when they weren't sure why I was asking them to go into their extremely dimly lit tiny guest bathroom. I loved the pedestal sink and the way the light was shining in just perfectly. These are now my favorite maternity pictures ever! They are so intimate and beautiful!
I don't normally use textures (actually EVER!) but I've shot them and this one felt right to me.

I loved this one of them laying in bed!

I also took some more bright and fun pictures.

Of course, I couldn't forget the big "brothers"!!

Well, I don't know what's better than just hanging with a best friend, other than getting to go shoot with her, except maybe getting to go shoot a beau-ti-ful wedding with her at a lovely location ! I had so much fun hanging with Michelle Peyronet (Porter) soon to be Jones! (<---did I mention I'm going to be shooting her wedding in only 2 weeks? Talk about nervous!!) This bride and groom were so sweet and I loved all the culture at this wedding as the brides roots are Mexican and the Groom is from Belgium. Did I mention they met in Bordeaux? I love second shooting on occasion because it gives me a chance to hang back, be creative, and really look. I don't have to be bossy, or direct anyone (although I do very little of that with my own clients, there is a certain amount of stepping up and guiding that a primary has to do.) Second shooters really have a great job! They get to look for alternate angles and story lines. If you're a photographer and you have a beautiful couple, cool location, and think I might be interested in shooting with you, just drop me a line. So get ready for an unload, because this is the only place I'll show these images since I shot them for another studio! So enjoy! The bride was concerned about the gusty wind, but it made for some beautiful images!
The couple *wisely* chose to do a First Look Session at Marie Gabrielle so they could take advantage of the lovely gardens for pictures while there was still light before their 6 pm ceremony. Afterall, if you are going to spend your money on a beautiful locale, you'll want pictures that really show it right?
The back of Kate's dress was delicate and beautiful fit her petite frame.

An example of the benefits of a second shooter: I got to focus on this super cute flower girl while Michelle took the main formal shot.
The groom and the flower girls watch as the bride and bridesmaids have their pictures taken.

I happen to see this bridesmaid from across the room (I had my very long lens on most of the day). I think she looks so relaxed and what a pretty back!
I got to put my D-700 through it's low light paces during the ceremony and I'm so stoked that I can shoot with out flash at 5000 iso (for the tech geeks out there) and have such little but oh so beautiful noise!

If you follow my work at all, you know I desperately love to see wedding gowns in movement, so I was excited to see this at the reception!

Adam + Lindsay's Engagements

I had so much fun on a beautiful February afternoon meeting Adam + Lindsay at both their and my Alma Mater, the University of North Texas. The couple has fond memories on campus and it was fun to walk around.

We snuck inside of the business building and found an old school chalk board!

I loved the light we came across in the stairwell.

In the Biology building, where Adam spent most of his pre-med time, there was a conference room with pretty light.

Then there is the 1:00 lounge where students hang out in the Union. It is named that because UNT's famous Jazz band always plays there at 1 PM. It's a nice escape in a busy student's day!

CAN"T believe it has already been 6 months! It's been a while since I posted pictures, so get ready for the unload. I had to take 1/2 Birthday pictures right?!

Micah has been sick this week with a horrible runny nose. You can tell in these pictures because his mouth is open in almost all of them because he can't breathe through his nose!

This is the basket where we usually keep his toys, but I thought he looked pretty cute in it, and he was quite enthralled with it. I love his long eye lashes.

His relationship with our dog is a special one. Labs are truly family dogs. Micah loves Parker and Parker loves Micah. Parker makes him laugh far more than anyone or anything else in his life.

Those inquisitive and thoughtful eyes.

I love his big brown eyes and that he is neither too skinny or too chunky.

I love how he seems big, but still so small.

I love his drool, the mark of a teething baby.

I love that right now he's always grabbing his toes.

I love how he attacks things to put them in his mouth. This is by far my favorite picture.

I love that he's ours.

There is nothing like the love I feel for this child. I'm so blessed.

Anna Tanksley + John Campione's Wedding

Ann + John had a wedding I won't soon forget. I'm not kidding that all of those things that you say, "oh that never happens" while watching a movie, happened. Seriously, Melanie and I just kept looking at each other, with wide eyes wondering if there would be more?

I'll start from the beginning...

Anna is one of 9 children. She comes from a big family full of love, plus her and John have friends, many of which from their involvement in the Theatre, which are so close they seem like family. That meant the getting ready room was buzzing with energey. You could just feel lit from the minute they walked in. Then the setting at Park Cities Presbyterian was gorgeous with what seemed like a zillion poinsettias (this was definitely a Christmas inspired wedding on December 20th).

Of course Anna looked gorgeous and I was surprised and delighted to see she had chosen a birdcage veil (a new development since her bridals).

John sang an emotional, "You Lift Me Up" on piano with Anna's brother acoompanying on celo during the ceremony.As if that wasn't enough, at the reception everyone could dance. I mean ballroom, swing... dance. Like I said, it was like we were in a movie! I've been to a few weddings where there were a few people who could tear it up on the floor, but nothing like this, it was insanely cool (especially for me because many moons ago, I liked to swing a bit myself!) One particulary fun dance was the opening number Anna danced with her brother. You all know, I'm such a sucker for movement in a dress. It is one of my VERY favorite things!
Then it happened.... time for the garter toss, and suddenly John was handed a mic. Yep, he sang to her, I mean SANG to her again, this time, "You're Too Good to be True" whilst his guys (and one groomswoman) backed him up brilliantly and unexpectedly (they didn't even know it was coming!)

Anyway, thanks guys for letting me a part of your love story, it was truly unforgettable!

Tara + Daniel

Tara + Daniel had a nice quaint wedding at the Wildwood Inn a Bed and Breakfast in Denton on Dec 6th. Tara got ready in one their rooms and we were so blessed to have this big bay window for natural light. I feel like I always love bride getting dressed pictures. Something about the finality of it, the sense of all the excited building and it is about to happen. You are about to get married and this is what you will be wearing!

I loved these relaxed portraits. Doesn't she look sweet?

I think these little fabric ring "envelopes" are too cute!

Daniel's real name is Jack Daniel, so they had an appropriate cake made, and it was one of the best I've tasted in a while, so good! EXCEPT a little one couldn't resist...

Then the evidence smeared on his face like a red letter (except it was black and said, "Y" for yummm!"

Kayli Turner + Mac McDaniel

Kayli's Bridals: She epitomizes the essence of beautiful femininity and cheerful strength.

Loved this cool shot of the church. I feel like it represents the character of the establishment quite well: artistic, edgy, colorful, blessed!

Found this cool curtain to hang the dress from! There were all kinds of interesting nooks and crannies at Trinity.

Love how Kayli smiles with her entire body! Mac had her childhood favorite bible recovered with her new name!

Love this grab from Jenna Palomino, my second shooter for the day, of the hustle and bustle of the bride getting ready.

The ladies' heartfelt prayer before the ceremony had me tears before we even started. Kayli had a pretty big wedding party full of amazing women who care for her truly and deeply.

Their parents came up and prayed with them during the ceremony. As you can see, it was lit dramatically with mostly candlelight and a few spot lights.

Nothing like the first dance; another example of how Kayli smiles with her whole self!

The couple played the Newly Wed Game at the beginning of their Reception.
They each took off a shoe and traded and this acted as their way to answer. So when asked, who was more likely to use the other's razor first, if Kayli held up her own shoe she thought it was her, if she held up his shoe she thought him and so on. It was really fun and a great way to get the party started and find out a little more about the couple.

Gotta love the anniversary dance. I think they had been married around 60 years!

Stacey Berndt + Tres Newton

Stacey's bridals were awesome at the Myerson. It's a great indoor venue for a)brides who don't want to worry about getting their dress too dirty or b) seasons when the weather can be be too chilly! Except that day, there were pro models there for a catalog shoot making her feel ultra nervous because they were watching! She was a true camper and did pretty well blocking them out mentally!

I've so enjoyed getting to know Stacey and Tres. Their wedding style was so laid back, so elegant, so refreshing. It was strange to work a regular people schedule (8 AM-5PM) I'm so used to shooting late into the wee hours.

This has to be my favorite ring shot to date, especially since my second shooter quipped about the old typewriter, then the idea popped in my head. It was fate that the b and n are right next to each other! In fact, you should always think of Stacey Berndt and Tres Newton when you type them! Hah!

Everyone who knows Stacey knows this is one of those, "so her" shots. She is finishing "one last conversation" as Tres pulls her away so they can have their romantic session, which we did after the reception due to the timing of the day it was so perfect and we loved not being so rushed!

Nicole + Zac Hughes

Get ready for a long post. I got so busy right before we had Micah, I never got a chance to post any images from Nicole + Zac's E-session---They were so fun and carefree!

Now, Nicole rocked out her bridals. I'm even using one of her images for one of my new post cards! (the first one!) She also did my signature, dress movement shot, beautifully! It's the kind of picture that I always dreamed about when I was a little girl and every woman should have their twirling their dress picture!

Now for their awesome wedding. I love when I can get face shots during the ceremony!
Zac had some stones added to Nicole's ring that no one had seen, I love this one of the girls oohing and awing right after the ceremony!

They had about 2 1/2 hours between the ceremony and reception which allowed lots of time for pictures and then we finished up and gave them some a lone time to relax before the reception. It made for a laid back day, never having to worry if we had time for pictures! Most of the bridal party went to Texas Tech, so we had to get a shot of everyone with their Red Raider "guns" up!

Wowsers, these folks can dance. Zac doing his awesome T-Rex dance! Seriously though, I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the guys could dance like this! Crazy!

All of these cards can be further customized by changing colors and text! When you order, I'll work with you to create the perfect card!

There are a few one-sided cards that can be printed on lustre or metallic photo paper, all other cards are press-printed with a variety of paper options. One sided cards can also be designed with a matching back. Cards come in packs of 24 and include envelopes! Cards range from $1.25 to $4 each depending on it's complexity and paper type.

Lindsey's Bridals!

I've been waiting so patiently to show these bridals! It was the infamous weekend of hurricane Ike, and he threatened to ruin her day, but a generous cousin came to our rescue letting us shoot in his 15th floor condo in Las Colinas. We both couldn't have been more happy for the rain! Lindsey was gorgeous and modeled like a pro!

The Wedding of Haas Shaner + Scott Nye

It felt so good to be back to work officially {shooting weddings after my maternity leave}! Photographing Haas and Scott's wedding was such a pleasure. They are such a laid back couple and their wedding was supremely elegant and filled with beautiful details.

I absolutely loved Haas' shoes and the earrings she picked against the ornate wall paper of her getting ready room at the Northwood Country Club (where they also had their fantastic reception!) Of course the guys were downstairs watching college football while the girls were getting ready!Haas was so elegant and relaxed!
The energy and excitment that takes place while the bride puts on final touches minutes before the ceremony is one of my favorite moments to capture.

The florals provided by Mockingbird Lane Florist had a laid back beauty (just what Haas was looking for!) and the table centerpieces were dramtic and detailed with out feeling overdone!

The couple loves their pug puppy dogs and Haas found this cute little prince and princess piece to put on the cake table, it was perfect for a fun ring shot!
Scott earned his law degree at Wake Forest, so they had the WF Demon Deacon Head cake made by Dallas Affaires. I loved the shimmering gold icing!

There are few moments at a wedding that are priceless--the Father-Daughter dance is one of my favorites. This is one that they will cherish for generations. Haas has a unique bond with her father.

Haas wore a very special ring that belonged to her Mother (I believe given to her Mother and all of her sisters my Haas' Grandmother). I loved this picture of MiMi admiring the ring. What a special moment!

When I was out in L.A. last year speaking at the Pictage Partner Conference, Cinematic Studios (by the way if you want the ultimate top notch videography, they are worth the splurge, one of the top 25 in the nation!) shot some video Tips for Photographers on behalf of Pictage. I was blessed enough to be asked to shoot a few of them. One of which is one the Final Planning Teleconference that is a must for my couples. I think it is so important that I'm totally informed the day of so that I can make my client's lives simple and give them one less thing to stress about. I always tell my clients that you'll have a lot to worry about in the final days of planning your wedding and the day of, but your photography won't be one of them! This meeting really helps us figure out what will work and what won't, and gives you a chance to rely on my experience in wedding schedules and planning. Alphabet Book:: Family Portraits

I really enjoy looking at other photographer's work for inspiration and I came across this amazing book design today by Kabloom Studios. Looks like the set out to make the kid's their very own alphabet book and I think it is so fantastic. So personal and something I know every child would be thrilled to have! I think I'll make one with pictures of my own little man! What a family keepsake. I'd love to shoot a session with an alphabet book in mind. If you're family was thinking about having some portraits taken soon, let me know if you're interested in shooting for an alphabet book! Or maybe you have different idea? I'm always open to cool ideas to make your session unique! It's great to start thinking about your sessions as more than just a print on a wall or a frame...but custom books and albums and galleries of prints/canvas that tell your family's unique story!

Baby Micah:: Update!

Hello Everyone (Family, Friends, and Clients!)

I know I've haven't even had a chance to call/E-mail many of you, but wanted to do a quick post to let everyone see a few pictures of our new bundle of joy! My amazing friend and photographer, Michelle Porter was with us through out the whole process and I'll be posting her Birth Story photos soon. Meanwhile, these are a few Jason and I have snapped. Keep all of us in your prayers. The baby is dong wonderfully!

He was born on Thursday, July 17th (only two days after his new cousin Emery who is up in Alaska!) at 9:28 PM and he weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs 11 oz (Dr . Wood was right!) and was 20.4 inches long.

After about 15 hours in labor, he got a little stuck and we had to do a C-Section. After which I had some major complications and had to have emergency surgery and a blood transfusion. It did get very serious and Jason stepped up to the plate for all of us. I'm lucky to be alive and grateful for my beautiful son and for some nurses who made some quick life saving decisions. My family will forever be grateful to Cathy, Emily, Stacey and of course our Dr. Wood. I did have to go back to the hospital on Tuesday for a procedure related to leaking spinal fluid/severe headaches, but we are hopeful that will clear up soon. Meanwhile, we are all just enjoying finally being home with our new son. He is a quiet and sweet baby. Looking into his eyes makes every set-back totally worth it.

Baby Time!

So, this is it. Our last night before crying, pooping, nursing, cuddling, cooing and I'm sure more than I know. We're heading to the hospital tomorrow morning to have the baby. I'm right at my due date and we're expecting an 8.5 to 9 lb chunker and we didn't want him to get too much bigger. We appreciate all your prayers and well wishes! Can't wait to meet Micah Allan!

I'm sharing this one sweet maternity shot Michelle (Peyronet Photography) took. I love how Parker couldn't resist getting in on the shot! The rest are a bit too intimate, but are so beautiful! I'm so blessed to have such an awesome friend (and photographer). She'll be there with us tomorrow to document our birth, so I can't wait to share Micah's Birth Story with you guys. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I'll be out of touch via e-mail for at least the next week and half, but checking-in intermittently after that to schedule future consultations and client meetings. I won't be shooting again until September, but if you're looking for a photographer before then, just let me know and I'll be happy to refer you to someone you can trust. Kat Coffey + Sam Baugh:: Married!

Amy, my Associate photographer went out to Wylie to photograph Kat + Sam's Wedding at the historic, First Baptist Church and then on to Plano's Los Rio Country Club for the reception. After chatting with Amy during final planning, they decided to do a "First Look" session so they could spend more time with their guests at the reception. I just loved this little series...

Kat was so gorgeous! Her eyes are amazing!
There is just something about her tattoo that I thought was so pretty against the vintage looking lace of her dress.I love the light with this stolen kiss between cutting cakes!

Random: Me

Ok, well, I just dug out the point and shoot, and for some reason like every other "normal" (i.e. non-photographer!) person, I found quite a few random pictures that I've yet to do anything with, so I thought I'd post some random fun shots.

This was last Thanksgiving when I told my family I was pregnant: We got together for a very small meal (we usually have 30 or so people, but everyone kind of went seperate ways to see other parts of family and we had a small crowd this year). Anyway, so being the family "photographer" I always make everyone get together for a group shot at gatherings and I get the usual groans. This time, I handed the camera to Jason and told him to tell everyone gather around. Then I said, "smile... because I'm pregnant!" You can see the very surprised look on Gram's face and then the shot with both Pupu (pronouced puh-puh) and Gram with tears in her eyes makes me sappy every time. I can't wait to see her hold the new baby and I know Pupu held him before all of us in heaven!

My brother, Chris, sent me the prettiest flower arrangement on my birthday this year. It was such a nice surprise. Who doesn't love fresh flowers?

My one mission on my Birthday this year: Eat some King Crab. To many people's surprise, it is totally fine to have seafood when you're pregnant, just not a ton of it (i.e. more than twice in one week). So I chowed down and it was soooo good. P.S. Jason and I are totally addicted to the show "Deadliest Catch" so fascinating!

I was pretty much "over" the idea of photographing my own Birthday, so our friend Megan snapped this of J and I. I didn't get a picture, but I did finally get my ice cream cake (see last year's post)--you know... a ice cream cake that actually has cake in it, not just a block of ice cream! Thanks to Marble Slab!

Baby M (actually A)

This newborn session was literally torture for me. My last scheduled shoot, at nearly 38 weeks pregnant myself... holding this precious 1-week old made me go literally nuts with anticipation wanting to meet my own new baby! This Baby Girl is named after her dad, but goes by her middle name. She was so relaxed. I've NEVER had a newborn session with out at least a few fusses or cries, but nope, nada, nothing but sweet eyes and tender poses from this cutey!

I thought for sure when I put her in this grass that she might have enough, but nope, she just thought it was interesting! I can't decide if I like the one with her eyes closed or open better, what do you think?I do love photographing people in their own environments. I just loved the green against the soft blue in the living room. Isn't she just the sweetest thing ever? This little hat and blanket were made just for you!I found this decorative bowl in the living room . Mom will be able to tell her she tinkled in it one day, I'm sure she'll get a kick out of that! Candice + Chris

My last wedding before I take maternity leave couldn't have been better! Albeit, a warm late May day out at The Four Seasons in Las Colinas. I loved that Chris and Candice's wedding was intimate and although extremely beautiful and detailed, at the same time very casual and relaxed. These two are so "into each other" it just hurts!

Chris gave Candice this awesome tiny "K" necklace with diamonds to wear since she is taking his name and I loved it! (To my own hubby Jason: ***hint, hint, wink, wink***) Candice knew what she wanted in a bracelet and had this one constructed just for her! Gorgeous!

I thought Candice looked so stunning in this little series. She was running behind due to a small make-up malfuction and we didn't get to start pre-ceremony pictures until we were supposed to be finishing them, so we just stepped right outside the Villa door and snapped a few before guests could see her. Even still, she was happy , relaxed, and oh so elegant!
Chris begged me not to take him out in the heat for too long, so we did some of his pictures in the hallways of the Villas. He too, was relaxed and handsome!
Arabella, was so cute in her little flip flops and pink dress!
I though it was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen when Chris literally couldn't wait for Candice to make it all the way down the aisle and ended up rushing toward her to take her hand. I don't even think he thought about it for a second, he just gravitated to her.
The minister, Rev. Diane Robertson, explained the Celtic tradition of the term, "tying the knot" while she bound their hands with the 3 traditional knots. It was quite sweet. This is when the tears just started to trickle...
Then , Candice and Chris both read each other poems they had written , and by this point everyone (including me!) was in tears! So tender and sweet!
Tom, Chris's Dad wore these ultra cool shoes. I couldn't help but snap a picture of them during the ceremony!Candice had the talented folks at Lulu's alter her dress to the point it was practically completely custom. My favorite feature? She had pockets sewn in to keep her essentials and a few special items. Just beautiful!

The Four Season's and Bella Flora did an amazing job with the Cake and Floral arrangements. I would highly recommend Bella if you are looking for a florist!
The guys for Lite Dallas did a great job lighting the poolside reception. I loved the custom monogram! It made a boring wall the perfect backdrop for pictures!
3 guys+ability to do a hunch back on command=best friends! They were cracking me up!

In Memorium

Wow, this post is a tough one for me. Many of you know I lost my Dad to his heroic battle with Pancreatic cancer just a year ago this weekend. Then recently, this April, I lost my Grandfather somewhat suddenly. It has been a tough year no doubt, loosing two very important men in my life.

It has made me really consider what is important in life. It has made me a better person and most certainly a better photographer. The loss of these two guys reminds me how precious each moment is, each photograph. I took the last picture of my Dad smiling before he died and I'm so glad I did.

I took the last picture of my Grandfather admiring a watch my Dad gave him just before he died. These moments are irreplaceable memories I actually have on paper to cherish. Life is fleeting and photos are important. I take this weight joyously to every job I photograph. I'm always thinking, "you just never know... this could be the last picture of this person smiling and it is my job to capture it in a beautiful way."

I also love some of the pictures I dug up of the two of them through the years. My Dad was born in Bangor, Maine. I love this one of him propped up in the snow as a baby with Pupu.

This one is just after my Dad had his tonsils removed. I love the way they are looking at each other, like they know something we don't!

I hope I make you guys proud. I miss you and you'll be with me forever. I'm glad you guys are together.

Emily + Steve

Wowsers! I've really been looking forward to Emily and Steve's wedding at the Trammel Crow Museum of Asian Art every since I met them the first time. I first met Emily and her Mom when they came in for a consultation and booked me on the spot. I think we knew we would be a good match from the start. I didn't get to meet Steve until I went to Virginia Beach last fall to photograph their engagements and just get to know each other. The first day I was there, we did a fun afternoon session around the beach. I was in love with these awesome murals we kept seeing by the same artist all around town!

The next morning we went to the beach at like 4 am for a super sexy Haute session and it was COLD! Emily and Steve seemed to keep each other warm enough though! These images are pretty steamy. So fun to see a couple so completely in love! It was awesome getting to spend an entire weekend with one of my couples just hanging out and getting to know them.

Then, Emily flew into Dallas on a VERY cold and sleeting January day to shoot her bridals at the Myerson Symphony Center. We did most of the shoot inside, but couldn't resist going outside for about 15-20 minutes in the 20 degree weather! She modeled like a true pro and we got some amazing images! I love how Emily shows her edgy side and super soft pretty side in the same session. One of my favorites (the Angel--a word which does have some special meaning to the couple--can you figure it out?), will be featured in my online listing with DWeddings!

At this point, the wedding was like showing up to photograph a good friend's wedding and the love and spontaneity of the couple and their families was evident! I can hardly cut down the images I want to blog, so enjoy the plethora this week! I'll be posting their wedding pictures soon!

Christy + Tres

I'm working on getting several recent weddings and sessions posted, so definitely check back soon as you should be seeing lots of new great stuff!
Tres and Christy's wedding at the Legend's of the Game Museum at the Ball park in Arlington was so much fun! It was actually a pretty chilly day for early March! Here a few of my favorites:

I loved how Christy's Grandpa was just waiting patiently for everyone to arrive. I think they were the first ones to show up to the church after us!Tres, cut his fingers reaching into his bag on his razor and had to use the only band-aid available, kid's cartoons! It made for some funny jokes the whole day!
Christy looks so pretty in front of the cute blue door at the church!

Melanie Johnson grabbed this one at the ceremony and I just love the look on Christy's face!
Tres kept Christy warm as we lost light just after the ceremony!

I love getting to ride in the limo with the couple and it was so cool to see how happy these two were to finally be married!

This cute little flower girl was after him all night! I love that "oh my, what have I gotten myself into?" look he has! T

Tres' brother was the best man and his speech was fantastic! He alluded to Christy as being like fish story and it made me laugh and nearly cry! At the last minute all of the attendants had to tear the rose petals off the center-pieces because their going away called for sparklers and there was a burn ban in effect that prevented them from being able to use them with out paying a very hefty fine! It turned out gorgeous anyway!

4 inches of SNOW!!!

Last Thursday was a real delight to have about 4 inches of powdery white snow... in Texas is just so rare. In fact, I really can't ever remember getting so much snow that actually stuck and wasn't just mush sleet or ice. I had such a good time playing in the yard with Parker our 8 year old black lab. He is truly a hunting dog and loves nothing more than fetching (except maybe cuddling and sleeping), so we brought out his play squirrel and played fetch in the snow! He was so happy!

This was his response after I told him to "sit" in the cold wet snow! So funny!

101 in 1001

A few other photographers I admire jumped on board with a 101 in 1001 list this year and inspired me to create my own. 101 Goals (whose results are somewhat measurable) in 1001 days. For me, that means my due date is Saturday, November 27, 2010 (btw, what a cool site I just found (Timeanddate.com) that will calculate that kind of thing for you!

A lot of the items on my list are personal, many professional, and just a couple, secret. I'll be blogging my progress as I complete items and feel free to send any help or resources my way that you think will help. It took quite a while to come up with my list, and it amazes me how motivating it can be. I already accomplished two thing on my list (#10 & #83) before I've even published it! Yeah me!

1. Shoot and submit at least 100 images for my stock portfolio (25 done by December 2008)
2. Finish Creation of Photographer Resource Store (www.kristingreenlee.net) by July 08.
3. Order new canvas and print samples for studio space.
4. Blog at least once per week for a straight 3 months (offer incentive for weeks missed to any client).
5. Travel to Europe or South America
6. Photograph a Destination wedding
7. Photograph a trip to another country while volunteering
8. Consistently work on my personal photo essay of baby (at least 2 images per week from third trimester through 1st birthday).
9. Create a beautiful album for my own wedding pictures
10. Buy a nice digital video camera
11. Interview my grandparents for a family documentary.
12. Make sure all family members that want one, get a copy of said documentary!
13. Add a video to my website or start by sending a client a video after phone conversation.
14. Have a meal or drink with someone new once a month.
15. Decide on an awesome design, and have the nursery decorated by my 8th month of pregnancy.
16. Hire a photographer I love to photograph our maternity and birth story!
17. Create a gorgeous album for our baby story that includes our maternity, birth, and newborn images.
18. Decide on a design, and re-decorate Tristian’s room
19. Do something sweet and unexpected for my husband
20. Throw Jason and awesome party when he passes all parts of his C.P.A. exam
21. Lose baby weight, plus 10 lbs by June 11, 2009 (my birthday!)
22. Eat fast food no more than 3 times a week for any meals for an entire month! (i.e. cook more!)
23. Find and move into a new studio space by December 2009
24. Build existing and new friendships by calling/e-mailing more regularly (at least twice per month).
25. Maintain a date night with Jason (post-baby) at least 3 times per month for 6 months.
26. Read 3 new books to help my business.
27. Read 2 classic literature books
28. Go to 2 awesome photography workshops on my list.
29. Give an awesome photography workshop at 2009 WPPI or other large conference with Michelle (of Peyronet Photography)
30. Volunteer at local animal shelter photographing dogs for their website/adoption materials
31. Volunteer with adoption agency/children’s home to photograph children for their adoption files.
32. Create and maintain a new gift registry for my clients
33. Produce a series of Fine Art prints/cards and sell them
34. Participate in a bridal show
35. Make sure we get a photographer I love to photograph our family portraits for our own Christmas card for the next 2 years straight.
36. Be better about doing the laundry (my most hated chore). At least two loads per week, washed AND put a way for 4 weeks straight.
37. Spend more time with little sisters, Alyssa and Cristina (one special activity per month).
38. Learn how to use InDesign as a primary resource for Fine Art Album designs.
39. Continue to develop our Second Shooters and Associate Photographer—Add another awesome Associate to our team!
40. Not buy a stitch of new clothing for 2 months straight.
41. Paint/Re-Design our Master Bedroom/Bathroom
42. Start Journaling again.
43. Go camping with my family!
44. Catch a fish with my husband—while relaxing on the boat (one of HIS favorite activities)

89. Visit the Dallas Museum of Art, Amon Carter, The Modern, and The Kimball all at least once a year for 2 years straight.

Sandy + Adam

Sandy and Adam are two of the sweetest people I've ever met ( I feel like I think this about all of my couples, but I guess it just means that I'm blessed that the "right" clients hire me--meaning we click personality/style wise and it's a good thing...the personality match I rank the #1 most important factor in getting the pictures you love and deserve!)

Their post-Christmas, Dec 28th wedding at the Alexander Mansion was quaint and beautiful. I totally cried (thanks a lot Adam!) during their ceremony, and admit once again that I cry and nearly every wedding I photograph. I just think it is one of the most amazing things to witness. Just look at how he looked at her!

One of my favorite things about Sandy and Adam is their (and what seems like half of their guest list's) love of their alma mater, Texas A&M.

I designed a Guest Signing Mat with a framed picture for their E-session. I was walking by and noticed this guy was drawing a picture! I wanted to share a few from their E-session in Downtown Ft. January PUG

I had an awesome time as usual leading the January PUG meeting (we are all users of the industry leading, Pictage). This group of DFW area photographers are some of the best I know! We share a belief that we are better together and that by sharing our knowledge, experience, and ideas we can better serve our clients by becoming the best photographers we can be. I'm glad to have these guys as both colleagues and friends!

Don't you just love the Texas painting we're in front of? We are so lucky that Marco Galbadon of Windmill Media Productions is allowing us to meet in a space that is available to him because he studios out of a building of executive office suits. This room is called the Texas Room and it cracks me up! I love living here! Really though, the space is perfect for us. So if you're a local photographer, or one in town visiting the area, please join us for our next meeting on Feb 10th. Just contact me for more details! We'll be having guest speaker (and super hot accountant!) Jason Greenlee on hand to answer all your tax, financial, business entity questions! It should be a packed PUG!

Jana + Chris's E-session

Ok, I know, I know... I let my blog turn into a blob. I don't want to make excuses, but you guys know how the holiday season can be, and it turned out to be one of my busiest ever! So, I'm going to be going back and blogging about past sessions and weddings as I can and as of, let's say Valentine's Day, I'm going to be caught up!

I'm also setting a goal this year to blog AT LEAST once a week, and if I miss a week (I will count the week starting on Sunday and I have until midnight Saturday!) blogging than anyone who e-mails me will get a $25 print credit toward a past, current, or future event (this is equivalent to the price of an 8x10). That should keep me motivated! So those of you blog stockers can rest easy and have a reason to come back! If you want to get updates every time I post (and monitor me more easily!) then, just sign up to the right or from the homepage of my website!

The Best Source--Paper-Source

I'm going to try and start posting more tips for all my Moms and Brides out there (and really everyone!) Many people (including other photographers) have been asking me where I get the awesome large chocolate envelopes I use for my information kits and the answer is one of my favorite resources for paper items: Paper Source. They have a million colors and multiple items in a color line, so your sure to find what you need and be able to coordinate it among all your paper/gifting needs. Perfect for shower invitations, programs, and a million other uses!

My niece has open heart surgery

My 4 year old niece had open heart surgery this week at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. She's had several holes in her heart since she was born premature and she was finally old enough to get them fixed. As I'm sure you can tell, she is a pretty darn cute little girl, but more than anything, I think you'll see that her spirit is amazing. She didn't cry or complain, she smiled, she laughed, and she played. We can learn so much from the attitude of a child!

As any good Aunt would do, I brought her some goodies! A "Princess" crown, fun jewelery, and hair bands. Everyone should feel pretty, even when they feel terrible! She loved what we got her and wanted to wear it the rest of the day!

Everything there (including the blood pressure cuffs) is so tiny!
Nothing like a good juice box to quench your thirst!

We did a whole lot of coloring and playing with stickers, I ended up with who knows how many all over me and my camera!My sister, a picture of grace and calm. You can see where my niece gets her spirit!
Still just a regular kid!

At Children's they take kiddos around in wagons instead of pushing their whole bed or using wheel chairs. We loaded her up to go get her EKG for the day. She literally caused quite a commotion in the halls--everyone stooped to gawk--just look how darn cute she is!!

The thought they put into making children comfortable there is amazing. I snapped these during her EKG. Since the room is so dark and the kids have to be so still, they put a movie on for them on this tiny screen which is like a bed lamp and can be moved right in front of their face! She was in a trance, happy to watch Dora! Thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and technicians that made her surgery a success and have taken such good care of her. You're truly angels to us!

Hospitals are always like mazes, but on the way back to my car, I noticed the top of the parking garage had an amazing view of the Dallas skyline. (The same view right outside her room window!)

The Wedding Side is up!

I just wanted to update everyone that my new and improved wedding site is up! The Portrait site is still under some construction, but we should see that up very soon! During the transition, I did have some e-mail difficulties, but everything should be fixed now! If you sent me an e-mail between 10pm Friday and 11 AM Sunday, please re-send it as I didn't get it! Sorry about that! I will also be updating links to slideshows over the next few weeks so you may have to change a bookmark!

New Website

Hey guys, I just wanted to touch base as you may find my website down for a day (**hopefully not long!**) as I am launching a brand new site! Speaking at the Pictage Partner Conference!!!

I just have to tell you guys how proud I am to announce that I've been chosen to speak at Pictage's Partner Conference this September. This is huge for me... a National conference... one of only 27 photographers chosen out of some of the best in the nation (I'll be among the ranks of some of my biggest photography crushes (in no particular order!): Davina Fear, Jules Bianchi, Jefferson Todd, Dennis Reggie, Mike Colon, and many others!

I'll be speaking on Breaking Out: Principles of Building your Business! If you're a photographer, definitely take a trip to L.A. this September, I'd love to see you there! Wish me luck!

July PUG Meeting

I know... I know.... (maybe only I know?) that I'm way behind blogging during this very busy season! I just decided I'm going to start with the most recent and work backward.

I had such an amazing time yesterday hanging out with fellow photographers! Jared Bauman came in from San Diego, CA and I happily took him to lunch at Houston's (a Dallas staple... really if you haven't eaten there, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that isn't great!) What a great chance to pick the brain of a brilliant photographer! I'm soooo thrilled to see the fruition of ShootDotEdit!

After lunch, Jared headed to his hotel to check-in freshen up (do guys call it that?)
Then, I crashed the studio of Gisela Prishker

( and Josh Rodriguez and Greg Blomberg) a little earlier than expected where I thought I would get some blogging done before PUG, only to find (huge surprise!) that all we could do was goof off and chat about the upcoming opportunity that Gisela is getting in L.A., but mums the word here, I just have to say, watch out for this girl!

We decided to walk across the street to Whole Foods before everyone came over for the PUG and Josh snapped this cute pic of Gisela and I outside their awesome red door! My poor PUGlies had to endure the ridiculous complaining about my blister-riden feet (I hate breaking in new shoes, I seem more prone to blisters than anyone I know!) I'm not sure why I even tried on a day like this?So, of course I picked up the only band-aids they had at Whole Foods (sorry, Latex-Free, Eco-Bandages!--which I do NOT recomend, it seems they forgot the part that actually makes them stick to your skin?)

After shooting 30 covers, Gisela says she's going for the big guns next and I belive her!

Here's Gisella whipping up some Quesedillas! She's so cute! Oh so, Latina of her to feel the need to actually cook something last minute!

Once everyone arrived we started an ice breaker to get to know something new about each other, only to find out Hillary has the tinyest adult feet I've ever seen! Check them out compared to Marco's! Ancient Chinese women eat your heart out!

Jared's presentation on Capturing and Creating Emotion was loaded with great tips! Here he is deep in advice!

Kristi and Jonathan's E-Session in their own Uptown backyard

I was driving over to their Uptown apartment feeling a little nervous. We really hadn't talked too much about where we were shooting, just around their neighborhood, roof top terrace, and what ever else we came across. I though, hmm.. maybe we should have planned more? But then I remembered the thing I always tell my clients about picking locations to shoot, "I can shoot just about anywhere. It isn't about the location, but about you two... how you interact, what you're interested in, reflecting your personalities, your love story. There's always something visually interesting if you look for it."

In the hall, just outside their door...

I snapped this in their outdoor stairwell on the way up to the terrace... the light was rich!Then, we found ourselves just roaming around their neighborhood and sneaking around corners... we found this amazing, lush green enclave they didn't know existed! Sometimes, you don't know what is in your own backyard until you just go exploring! I loved this aspect of the shoot, finding the unexpected beauty... isn't that what love and getting married is all about?

Then they changed into their more dressy clothes

***TIP***(I thought Jonathan and Kristi epitomized what I'm always trying to explain to clients when talking about what to wear: 2 outfits one casual, not too matchy-matchy, one dressy, smart, and just lookin' good! You should wear what makes you feel good and something you're comfortable in!We all have an outfit we feel like we look hot in! Wear that!!)

I love this picture of the two of them because it is where Jonathan proposed to Kristi. (He planned to do it on the terrace, but she was resisting going up there due to the heat, so he just went for it right here out front!)

Then, we hopped on the trolley to ride up to the DMA, but there was a wedding going on so they wouldn't let us in the sculpture garden--I was able to sneak this shot right at the gate!However, the Arts Festival was going on and there was this great blue's band playing and I just loved how they danced! It reminded me how much music can set the mood, it was the perfect soundtrack to their date (btw, I consider an engagement session a planned date, where you just let me tag-a-long!)

My Birthday Cake--A Long Wait

I've been giving Jason (my hubby) a hard time about not getting me the prized Andes Mint Ice Cream cake for my Birthday for the 5+ years we've been together. From previous posts, you may already know that I LOVE mint anything, and well, I'm a sucker for ice cream. So, this year was my year! J got me the delish "cake" from Milwaukee Joe's for my Birthday this year!

Although, like a typical woman, I was hard pressed to find out that it is just ice cream, no cake. Just a block of ice cream with frosting, I guess, since they called it an ice cream CAKE, I thought there would also be CAKE in it (like ones I've previously had from other ice cream places). However, do not read this as a complaint. I love my Andes Mint ice cream and I finally got my "cake", so I'm happy.

This year, turning a mere 25 (Is that it? Really?) is bittersweet. Many of you know my father recently passed away from a long battle with cancer, so this is certainly a time a grief. I spent the day reflecting on who I am, who I want to become, and what great affect my father had on my life. I chose to celebrate life. To remember that our days our numbered and one day we will clock out. What will my legacy be?

Wayne and Jessica's Guest Book Design

One of my favorite things is to design my couple's custom guest book. I just love knowing how much fun it will be to read it when they get home (looking at a list of signatures is so boring!) They are having their wedding at Austin Ranch in Grapevine. I love the western theme with an edge and you'll see horseshoes throughout the wedding day design!
